ANC PRESERVE SPEAKER IN EKURHULENI CITY COUNCIL

The ANC has won it first round of voting with Patricia Khumalo preserving her position as council speaker.

The African national congress (ANC) has won it first round of elections in Ekurhuleni city meeting, with former speaker Patricia Khumalo preserving her position.

Khumalo beat the Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Shabagu by 117 votes to 106 with 224 ballot casts for the position of speaker, the Independent Electoral Commission publicised the vote was free and fair .

“The procedure was free and fair, and i assure even the party agents will confirm to the facts that everything was translucent.”

ANC Councillors celebrated after the outcomes were announced while the Economic Freedom Party and Democratic Alliance Councillors sat quietly.
