Gautrain bus driver are threatening to put down tools and go on strike. This comes after workers affiliated to the united National Transport Union awaiting for mediation and arbitration to embark on action.
EWN reported that the bus drivers says they will embark on strike if their employer Bombele does not agree to their demand of a 9 percent salary.
Meanwhile the Gautrain is only offering 7 percent since in April it is reported that bus driver took it to CCMA and if they grants the union a non resolution certificate workers will have no choice but to go on strike. Bus drivers gave their employer 48 hours notice period.
The union’s spokesperson Steve Harris says “the strike will depend on their constituency once the CCMA has issued the certificate they will then ask their members mandate whether they willing to go on strike and if they willing to on strike they will then give the company 48 hours in terms of labour law”
