Tbo Touch has put new meaning on the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side” as he embarks on a new journey. What seemed to be a sad exit watching from the outside in has turned into victory for the man who assured us he’ll be back on the radio airwaves.
Tbo Touch has joined forces with Idols Judge Gareth Cliff to form a 24 hour music channel which they believe to be the best thing in entertainment right now.
Touch Central “is a streaming music service. It’ll be a music radio station featuring the biggest names, the best content, the best music and whatever our audience tell us they want” said Cliff.
Tbo Touch departed from Metro FM after over 10 years of service. An amicable separation, he thanked the station for his growth and allowing him to be apart of a musical platform that came with lessons and accomplishments. Now, just a month later, Touch is taking the radio scene by storm, implementing what he calls ‘The future.’
“I’ve never been so excited about a partnership in my life. The world needs people who co – operate out of appreciation and passion. Gareth and I are that duo,” Touch said.
The streaming service is set to launch on 29 August 2016. It will be absolutely free to subscribe up until a million people have been reached, then, the organisers will be singing a different tune.
Tbo Touch will assume his duties on the drive time slot from 3pm-7pm. When asked about the name of the show he replied: “It’s the Touchdown, nothing changes.”
According to a press statement made on Friday, 29 July… “Touch Central will offer a music, lifestyle and talk platform not restricted by bureaucracy but instead, led by the listeners’ views, demands and needs. Touch Central is the stable for wild-horses – relevant, contemporary and independent-thinking. The added value of the platform being online and mobile opens up its multimedia capabilities to a boundless dimension of interaction.”
We at Nation’s Voice will be looking foward to what has been dubbed as ‘an epic radio experience’.
We can only wonder what gossip is lurking in the shadows at the SABC.
