The ever gorgeous Terry Pheto has scored what has been described as ‘a role of a lifetime’ following her being cast as Winnie Madikizela Mandela in a Canadian production called ‘Madiba‘. Pheto will star alongside fellow actor Hlomla Dandala, indeed flying the South African flag high in the US soil.
Moitheri Terry Pheto is no stranger to the lime light. She continues to conquer and rise on top of most of her peers. In 2005, she was one of the leading ladies in the South African hit movie ‘Tsotsi‘ produced by Peter Fudakowski, directed by Gavin Hood. The film went on to win an Academy Award, proving once again that Mzansi’s talent deserves to be in the big leagues.
Then, in 2011, she scored a role in the U.S soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She starred alongside powerful actors and actresses, playing the role of a doctor.
‘Madiba‘ is a six part series produced by a company called Blue Ice Pictures. The show will highlight the life of the late ‘Father of the Nation’, Tata Nelson Mandela, and those who helped him fight the struggle in the name of ‘Democracy’.
American actor Laurence Fishburn will take on the part of the great man himself Nelson Mandela and Orlando Jones as Oliver Tambo. Hlomla Dandala will assume the role of Govan Mbeki, the late father of former South African President Thabi Mbeki… All hail.
It’s also nice to know that the executive producer for the series, Lance Samuals, a South African native, telling South African stories – on a global level. ‘Madiba’ will be seen by millions since its going to premier in the US on the BET network next year.
“I’ve been preparing for this role my entire career. It’s a dream role for me, and I feel like everything I’ve done has led me to this” Pheto said.
