BREAKING: Sandton shootout outside Gautrain station between Uber drivers and Metered-Taxi drivers

A shootout and stoning has erupted outside the Sandton Gautrain station, between the Uber driver and Metered-Taxi drivers.

A shootout and stoning has erupted outside the Sandton Gautrain station, between the Uber driver and Metered-Taxi drivers.

EMER-G-MED explained that the shooting and stoning incident has taken place outside the Sandton Gautrain station.

The incident is alleged to have erupted because of an altercation between Uber drivers and meter taxi drivers. Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has however closed down the West Street and Rivonia Road and also the West Street as well as Stella Street.

According to the spokesperson of Gautrain, Keragee Nayager, passengers using the Gautrain are safe and none of the passengers have been involved in the incident.

However, EMER-G-MED posted on their twitter account that five people have been injured after a fight between Uber and Metered-taxi drivers. The injured include three JMPD officials and two drivers in the stoning and shooting attack that took place at Sandton Gautrain Station.

Five people who obtained minor injures to moderate injuries have been treated by the EMER-G-MED paramedics.

The authorities are currently investigating at the scene.
