Bafana Bafana and Orlando pirates’ goal keeper Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead during the armed robbery that occurred in Vooslorus in October 2014 and no arrest has been made yet.

At the beginning of this month, Hawks, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigatiors took over the murder case and together with the assistance of all the members who confessed to be in the house at the time of the alleged robbery has led the unit to be keen to step forward in the case.

The Hawks says the rebuilding of Meyiwa’s shooting has brought new evidence in the murder investigation.
According to the eNCA, Meyiwa’s father has been waiting for the Hawks to tell him about what is happening since he heard news on radio and the claims made by the independent newspaper that new suspect identified by the Hawks and the arrest will be made during the week.

However the news gave Meyiwa’s father renewed hope that justice will be served. But the Hawks refused the report claimed by the independent newspaper.

Meyiwa’s father asked the public protector to investigate how the police may have dealt with the case since he was not satisfied “I was not satisfied with the cops who were handling Senzo’s case, it is much better now that the Hawks are involved, I believe in them that they can help me since they don’t take bribes” he said.

The Hawks have made a pact with the Meyiwa’s to update them with any developments. The investigators believe they have a strong case that might lead to an arrest.
